Let's Play!

Let's Play

WALT : To use direct speech in our writing.

Rather than just writing another narrative in our writing books, we decided to create group plays with the same learning goal in mind.

To work collaboratively in groups to create an end product.

Huapai Fantail...Let's communicate!

We got into teams of 5.

We watched a story of the 3 Little Pigs.

We selected our characters.
Narrator
Pig 1, 2 and 3
Big Bad Wolf

We worked out our roles and strengths in a group... the negotiator, the encourager, the motivator!!!!

We played thumb wars to see who would be the Big Bad Wolf!
Then we took turns to write our parts on the group script.

At times we had to negotiate and come up with solutions about which decision should be made. we used our sportsmanship skills to think about fairness.

Example of one groups script:

Reader (Lauren) - Once upon a time in the woods there lived a cottage. The three pigs were all grown up and it was time for them to build their own homes.

Pig 1 (Tyson) - Im going to build a straw house.

Pig 2 (Kody) - I'm going to party all day!!!

Pig 3 (Rye) - I dont want to leave Waahhhh!!! What no, I don't want to leave! Ok Bye Mum.

Wolf (Hunter) - Don't tell them I'm here!

Reader - The three pigs lived in their new houses until the wolf came.

Wolf - I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down if you don't let me in.

Pig 1 - aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhggggggggg!!!!!

Reader - And he ran to his brothers house.

Reader - And the wolf went to the stick house.

Wolf - I'll huff and I'll puff.

Pig 2 - Aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhgggggggggggggg!!!!!

Reader - And they all went safely to the house made of bricks and stones.

At the end we all performed our plays so far!

SPORTSMANSHIP  -

Room 2 worked on noticing each-other and situations where they could show sportsmanship.

Just look how awesome the class did in one hockey lesson!!!
We support our friends when they get injured.
We work with our coach to improve our skills.
We talk with friends to take turns and set rules.
We work as a team to get the equipment we need.
We help our friends up when they fall down.
We celebrate as a team when we do well.
We celebrate with our friends when they score a goal.

We congratulate all players from both teams.
So yes...Room 2 are becoming Sportsmen and Sportswoman of the highest order!!!

To complete this unit we have worked with Room 3 to create little drama scenes to demonstrate this. Here is the planning process in action and the videos of the little clips will be posted next week.
We worked in teams to choose a scene.
We performed our ideas to the other groups.
We worked together to write our script.
We selected our roles and practised together.

Life Education Caravan is here!!!

Our class completed an independent piece of writing, trying to explore the genre of explaining what the life education caravan is and the possible experience you could have in it. Here are some examples that were published by the children on the chrome books.

Let me tell you about the life education truck.
If you go in side it soon you will see a puppet giraffe named Harold. Next you learn about what you need to live like water. You also learn about your feelings like sad, happy and mad.
Now go and find a life education education truck.

You might want to soon visit life education caravan?
When you go you might see stars and a controller work controls the caravan there is fluffy floors and walls. Also the walls you can pop things on the walls. You  might learn about bodies. You might see a lady with her skin that has been pulled down. And Chris will pick people to come and lift up body parts. When you leave Chris will give your teacher some activity books for you and your class.
Every one in the Juniors is allowed to go.

Let me tell you about life education. There is fluffy walls in there. There are stars on the roof. You will learn about how your body works. In the caravan you will learn lots like your bones in your body and feelings in there. We learned about the heart there. The brain is squidgy. Everybody you can go there now. And that is about the life education caravan.
